P2720DC, MacBook Pro, not working

Looking at a similar attitude in the context of a P2720DC with a MacBook Pro. I would add that I'd be fine, if Dell said: "We don't support that setup; it's not working.". Instead, I get the go-to-the-Apple-forum response. I did this, no help of course. An email from Dell support suggested that my monitor has a defect. But that, too, isn't confirmed by anyone. Latest state: They seem to be waiting out my return period before responding further. They must have some experience connecting their monitors to Apple hardware, no!?? Either it's supposed to work -- or not.

I can confirm that as of 6th Jan 2021, this monitor does work with a 2019 16" MacBook Pro.

I used a shortcut in the steps posted above
• Disconnect USB-C from MBP
• Disconnect power from monitor
• Hold power on monitor for 10 seconds and release
• Connect power to monitor
• Connect USB-C to MBP

It started up and displayed straight away.

"They must have some experience connecting their monitors to Apple hardware, no!??"
* We do not have Apple hardware in our labs.

I am not sure how email Technical Support could suggest that the P2720DC was defective if they did not have you test the P2720DC on a validated Windows PC?

* The P2720DC driver page only shows Windows drivers
* The P2720DC User's Guide only mentions Windows

In theory, this is how you should set it up;

* Turn the MacBook Pro and P2720DC off
* Disconnect ALL cables from the P2720DC
* Press and hold in the P2720DC power button for 8 seconds

* Open the MacBook Pro lid
* Turn the MacBook Pro on

* Reconnect the power cable to the P2720DC
* Reconnect the P2720DC USB Type C to C cable to the MacBook Pro and the P2720DC USB Type-C in port
* Turn the P2720DC on
* Press the P2720DC Input Source button
- Check USB Type C
- Change Auto Select to On
- Change Auto Select for USB-C to Yes
* Exit the Menu

From this point on, Dell does not know what to do with the Apple OS. You have to somehow tell the Apple OS to "extend" its desktop to the external monitor.
