Problem with Dell Monitor Warranty Transfer

I'm located in Canada and called dell to ask them the procedure to do a warranty transfer for a 22" monitor. Their response was that warranties for monitors under 27" cannot be transferred since they don't have a service tag number. However, I read this thread in the Dell Community Forum:

This thread suggests that it is indeed possible to get the warranty transferred to the new owners name. All that would be necessary is my original order number. Can any Dell Rep help me out?
