S2340M, screen goes randomly black for 2 seconds

I just bought a new Dell Monitor Model S2340M from Sam's Club. The screen randomly goes black for about 2 seconds, and it is so annoying when you're working on something. To add insult to injury, monitor doesn't have the required "Express Service Code" on the back of it needed to get online support. Should I just return it to Sam's club?

Provide the 20 digit alphanumeric serial number and I can tell you how long it has been at Sams. None of the 25" or smaller monitors get a service tag number or express service code.
* Go back to the top of this Monitor Forum
* Open, "My Dell monitor does not have a Service Tag?"

Does the computer video card have both DVI and VGA out to test into this entry level monitor? Be sure to be testing using the Dell supplied monitor cables.
* Press the side monitor Menu button to open the OSD (On Screen Display)
* At the bottom, both resolutions should list 1920x1080@60Hz
* If the left one is lower, the desktop resolution is incorrect
* Go to Other Settings
* Go to Factory Reset
* Reset All Settings
* Exit the OSD. Re-test

Chris,

     The alpha-numeric Serial number is CN-0293M3-64180-49o-ovut

How do I determine if the computer video card has both VGA and DVI out to test ?

Both resolutions list 1920x1080@60Hz.  The left number is higher.

I followed your advice and I did a factory reset

I still have the problem though.

How do I determine if the computer video card has both VGA and DVI out to test?
* Is the S2340M connected to a desktop computer or laptop computer?

* I think you misunderstood the lower reference. I meant that the leftside resolution should match the rightside resolution. Both should state 1920x1080@60Hz.

Chris,

    The left side resolution and right side resolution do match.

     The S2340M Monitor is connected to a desktop computer.

Ok. Look at the video card where the monitor is currently connected. What other ports do you see on it? Like blue VGA and white DVI. Which one is the monitor connected to now?
