S2721DGFA, oversaturation
Code of Conduct policy which you agreed to when joining. TOS65 >
I just paste here these threads, since they are locked and it seems like DELL want to bury this knowledge.
S2721DGFA, add sRGB emulation mode
S2721DGFA, add sRGB emulation mode, #2
So i'm asking again, when will S2721DGFA get some kind of sRGB-like color mode emulation/gamut conversion? Because they are still selling this monitor and basically cheating customers like myself.
99% of content is sRGB and yet, this monitor cannot properly display it. sRGB content is stretched over entire wide color gamut with not only very inaccurate colors but also with massive over saturation. It cannot be fixed in OSD menu, it cannot be fixed with calibration hardware. It could be however fixed in firmware with new picture mode. But DELL is refusing to do it, ignoring customers and criticism.
There is a workaround for AMD users in Windows driver, but Intel or Nvidia users are out of luck.
This needs a proper solution from DELL because it's really a big shame and incompetence. And not only S27221DGFA is effected. There are more DELL/Alienware monitor models without this core feature, while products from competition are not suffering from this issue.
In case some generic bot will ask for a service tag (what solves nothing) here it is:

Game osd preset should have acces to a RGB saturation controls, which move simulated primary on an idealized line from native primary to whitepoint desaturation. Since it is a P3 only display there are certain values in that line that fall close to sRGB green and sRGB red (this does not hold for dispalys with AdobeRGB green). With an i1d3 colorimeter and HCFR software should be easy (WLED PFS 94% P3 CCSS correction). Without such HW you can draw big patches of 255 red and green and lower R and G saturation on game OSD preset until it looks like sRGB.
These RG saturation OSD controls shoudl be very close from one display to another so if somebody is willing to share...
An alternative option is a software called "DWM LUT" which loads system wide an IRIDAS LUT3D on Windows 10, including games. You can compute such LUT3D from driver ICC profile (destination) and sRGB ICC (source) with DisplayCAL (LUT3D creator standalone app). Use relative colorimetric intent since del ICC driver may have D50 PCS white.
Once you load such LUT3D you must set default display profile to emulkated colorspace (sRGB) on windows control panel, you cannot have as default Dell driver ICC as long as LUT3D is active, otherwise color managed programs will show all desaturated.

These are only workarounds, but thank for reply anyway..
Since i have Radeon, i can just turn off color temperature control in Windows driver settings and it's done. It works without issues in SDR or HRD content which is not affected and still can utilize full gamut.
In linux i can use vkBasalt with Reshade "LUT" shader and apply custom LUT file, created from monitor ICM profile. This i have painfully learn how to create in DisplayCAL and apply to games in linux, while rest of the linux UI is oversaturated and burning my eyes..
Here is that custom "lut.png" for S2721DGF(A). However, most people will not know how to use it.. and meanwhile DELL does not care to give soluton to their customers.

I have tried adjusting colors in custom color profile, but when i lower down saturation result are not satisfactory. Desaturated colors are less "radioactive" but color hues are noticeably different. For Saturation and Hue are available sliders RGBCMY and for Hue and Gain are available RGB sliders. After and hour of tinkering with Saturation and Hue i've give up. If i select "Standard" monitor preset and turn off color temperature control in Radeon Settings, color are imho most accurate/pleasant to eyes. Just like i remember them from my previous monitor. I don't know if something like that can be achieved in "Custom" color profile in OSD. Propably not..
DELL is providing 10 useless game presets and not a single one with sRGB like colors. I have propably only one choice, to sell it

We use this tool for SRGB emulation.
