SE198WFP enters Power Save Mode when turned on?

Can anybody help on this issue, have not been able to access PC for over 3 weeks now. My Dell SE198WFP Monitor, connected to Dell PC using Windows Vista Basic, seems to have the Power Save Mode issue that many other Dell monitor users have noted when doing a google search on internet. Had PC & Monitor turned on, was going to be busy for few hrs so had left PC on as had apps open, but shut off Monitor. When back, turned on Monitor and it Immediately entered Power Save Mode? Tried hard shut down, by holding power button on PC, and restarted PC after minute - No effect. Tried leaving everything Off for both hrs and day, then restarting - No effect. Tried disconnecting monitor and it's power cable from PC, then reconnecting after few hrs/day, then restarting - No Effect. Every time PC seems to start up ok, tho can't really tell, as Every Time I turn on Monitor it IMMEDIATELY enters Power Save Mode and thus unable to know what PC is doing. Have even tried wiggling mouse or hitting keys when turning on PC, but Every time - Monitor IMMEDIATELY enters Power Save Mode? Does anybody know of a Solution to this issue? Or does this mean my Monitor is now Junk?

Regards,

Completely Frustrated with my Dell system.

Run the monitor Self-Test which is independent of your computer, computer video card, and cabling.
* Turn the monitor off
* Disconnect all cables from the monitor
* Press the monitor power button for 8 seconds
* Reconnect only the power cord to the monitor
* Turn the monitor on
* A floating colored dialog box should appear on screen on a black background. If this appears, the monitor is functioning. The issue is with either the video card, cabling, or the video card driver
* If the floating colored dialog box does not appear, the monitor is defective

Hi, I'm having this same issue so I ran the Self-Test and found that the monitor is functioning. What is the next step I should take that would be the most cost efficent?

Also, I'm using a Dell Optiplex GX270 hard drive.  Do you have any suggestions for a video cable that is compatiable?

Thank you for your help

So you also have the same model monitor SE198WFP? What video card is installed in the Optiplex GX270 computer? If you do not know, take a picture of the rear of the computer showing me the ports and attach it to your reply.

Hi. Yes same model monitor and all of a sudden it went into Power Save Mode. I have another hard drive so i connected the monitor to it and there was no problem so the cables seem ok.

There is no video card in the Dell GX270 currently.

Right, the monitor worked when connected to a different computer.

Ok. So this means the issue was with the first computer and not the monitor or its cable. What is the Dell service Tag number on the problem Optiplex GX270. Start a new thread on the Desktop Video board.

Title = Optiplex GX270, video issue, SE198WFP
Body = List the operating system installed. Troubleshooting you have tried.
