SP2008WFP Webcam Not Working At All

I've got a Dell Dimension 8200 from 2002 running Windows XP. It's a 2.52 GHz Machine with 512MB of Ram. I've got the latest updates from Windows Installed. The Display works great! I love it. But I can't get the webcam to work at all. I have an Adaptec DuoConnect 3020 PCI card that has both Firewire and USB 2.0 connections. When I connect the USB cable from the monitor, I'm asked to install drivers for Adaptec USB Support for USB Hub. I point it to the drivers for the DuoConnect. I'm then asked about Adaptec USB Composite Device Support and again I point it to the drivers for the DuoConnect. Then it asks for the drivers to the Monitor Integrated Webcam, USB Imaging Device, and USB Audio Device. I've tried the CD shipped with the monitor, the downloads from Dell's site, and even Windows Update (It found an updated Creative driver), but I get the same results every time.
This device cannot start. (Code 10)
Click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter for this device.

I've uninstalled, reinstalled, plugged the usb cable into a different usb port, but nothing, although it looks like the USB Audio Device works. Anyone have any ideas? Any help is greatly appreciated! The integrated webcam is part of why I purchased this monitor.

Thanks, Joe

There are USB1.1 & USB 2.0 controller on this card beside the FireWire. Make sure you has the right driver installed, check the device manager if the correct USB 2.0 driver instelled i.e. Adaptec AUA-3032 PCI to USB Enhanced Host Controller is installed properly and is working (no yellow exclamation mark) – this is usually the case for code 10

The only yellow exclamation marks I have are for the webcam. The DuoConnect is working fine. Also, when I've connected the monitor into some of the other USB ports on my computer (the built in ones), the system yells at me about USB1.1 connectivity and that I need to move it to a faster port. So I know It's being plugged into a USB2.0 port.

I have a 4-port USB2.0 card that shipped with the Dell, I may try and re-install that and see if that works.

liljoe78,

You must plug the monitor USB cable into a USB port on the rear of the PC motherboard. Not into a PCI card that has USB ports. Did you try both of the rear USB ports?

I haven't, but I believe both of them on the motherboard are USB 1.1. I'll try that when I get home today.

liljoe78,

Your correct, they are both 1.1. Try that other card and let me know how it goes.

The USB card did the trick. It must have been something on the Adaptec card that was causing it to have issues. But I plugged the other USB pci card in and everything worked immediately.

I noticed that the chipset on the pci card is the same as that on the motherboard (NEC). I'd be curious if that has anything to do with it.

So as a warning to anyone else who purchases this monitor and has an Adaptec DuoConnect AUA-3020 PCI Card, you'll run into issues.

Thanks for your help!
Joe

I have the exact same issue (ie. yellow "!" on the driver for the webcam) and I am plugging directly into a USB port on the back of my Dell Dimension E510.

Furthermore it is preventing all other Imaging devices I have from working (scanner, digital camera).

Already tried reinstalling the drivers...

Any ideas?

Actually my problem is similar but not identical - will start a new thread.
