U2311H dying power board?

I think my U2311H monitor is dying.  It was purchased back in 2011.  Over the past month or two, I've noticed the following problem:

When the monitor is first turned on, it isn't at full brightness.  As it slowly "warms up", it gets brighter, but then immediately powers off.  The power light remains on (blue), but the screen is completely black.  It will then start to flicker on again, slowly get brighter, then turn off again.  It does this indefinitely.  Some times it is better than others - staying on for at least an hour.  Other times it does this almost immediately after powering on.

I've seen this exact same problem with older Samsung monitors.  One place where I worked at a TON of them do this.  It turns out there were bad capacitors in the power board.  We found out about this, and cracked one open to check.  Sure enough, there were several swollen/burst capacitors.  They had the exact same symptoms - either not powering on (but the power light showing they were), or they would start faint, get brighter, then black out.  We replaced the capacitors, and the monitors were as good as new.

The U2311H is currently the left-most monitor in a 3-monitor setup - a U2311H on the left, a U2412M in the middle, and a S2309W on the right.  The U2311H was purchased to replace a second S2309W that eventually developed a red vertical line (which then turned into about a third of the LCD panel dying).  The U2311H is on DisplayPort, and the other two are on DVI, and the whole rig is powered by a Radeon 5770.  Since I've been a grad student, I haven't spent nearly as much time working on this machine at home as I have at the school, so it's not like they've been on a lot.

Given the age of the monitor, and the fact that it isn't anything that I've done to it to cause this condition, is there anything in the warranty that would cover this?  Also, is this a common issue with the U2311H?

No, not a common issue. If you bought it directly from Dell, you got a Dell order number tied to the 3 year warranty. If you purchased it from a reseller, the 3 year warranty started from the manufacturer date embedded in the monitor 20 digit alphanumeric serial number.
