U2412M and Mac mini 2012
After much research I purchased this second hand monitor with power cable only for a 2012 Mac mini, which has only an hdmi to dvi adapter cable. I have looked on this topic on many forums and The mini display to display port cable seems the most recommended. I realize that Dell does not test its products with Apple devices but any advice on the best way to attach your monitor to my Mac mini would be helpful.

The Mac Mini 2012 has the following video out ports =
HDMI
Thunderbolt (their version of Mini-DisplayPort)
The U2412M has the following video in ports =
DP (DisplayPort)
DVI
VGA
Possible setups =
Mac Mini Thunderbolt out --> mDP to DP cable --> U2412M DP in
Mac Mini HDMI out --> HDMI to DVI cable --> U2412M DVI in (You have this one. What happened when you tried it?)
Ask the users on the Apple Discussions Forum about getting the Apple Thunderbolt (mDP) to DP cable.

Thanks, Dell-Chris. this old timer will need pro help to upgrade from a not surprisingly old mac /monitor to the newish mini and dell monitor, so I wanted to be prepared. The HDMI to DVI cable enclosed seems to short, but we will see. TMI, I guess, but that's why you are paid the big bucks. Thanks
