U2412M, vertical lines on blue surface

I just purchased a new Dell U2412M monitor and am unpleasantly surprised by these vertical lines.

I previously worked on a Dell 2407WFP monitor that had no such issue. Is this some known hardware defect, or is it possible that there is a different cause to this? I noticed that my monitor was produced in 2016, so it's kind of old, too, and I read on this forum that there were some issues with the panels produced in 2016.

Hi Chris, thanks for your response, I sent you the data you requested. Factory Reset did not solve the issue. Monitor self test does not show the problem, it shows on certain types of blue and orange color. I tested it with a PC through DVI, GeForce GTX 750 Ti and also through a MacBook Pro, through DVI with a mDP to DVI converter. The same configuration worked flawlessly with my old U2407 The USB upstream cable is also connected to the PC. Disconnecting it makes no difference.

* For my internal notes, click my name and private message me the U2412M service tag number and 20 digit alpha numeric serial number
* Was this U2412M purchased directly from Dell? If not, you have to transfer it into your name. Read this

* Go into the U2412M Menu- Others and Factory Reset
* What operating system?
* What PC model?
- If a Desktop PC, what video card? What video out ports are on the video card?
- If a Laptop PC, what video out ports are on the Laptop?
* Show in detail how the U2412M is connected to the PC using all ports and cabling. Example =
PC GTX 1080 DP out port --> U2718Q DP to mDP cable --> U2718Q mDP in port
PC USB port --> U2718Q USB upstream cable --> U2718Q USB upstream port

Hello Chris, thanks again for your reply. I'm running Windows 10, I installed the monitor driver from the CD that came in the box, and I can see the Dell U2412M (Digital) in the Device Manager. The resolution is set to 1920x1200 and the refresh rate shows 59Hz, and cannot be set to 60Hz, but you answer elsewhere that this was due to some rounding policies of the newer Windows OS versions, so I assume the frequency is not the cause of the problem. I stress that the issue does not appear on all colors, only on some variants of blue (like the logo of the Microsoft Edge app) and orange.

* We cannot speak to non-tested/validated Apple
* What Windows operating system is installed on the PC?
* Did you install the U2412M Windows operating system driver?
* Does the U2412M appear in the Device Manager?
* You should be running at 1920x1200 60Hz

I also replied in private with some data.

Correct. Windows 10, 59Hz, OK. Odd color issue. At this point, nothing definitive telling us if the U2412M is faulty or not. If faulty, you would think it would effect all colors.
