U2414H, MacBook Pro, No power?

I just bought the Dell U2414H Monitor to work with a MacBook Pro. When I first connected the monitor a white power light lit up and a dialogue box on the screen saying it would enter in power save mode in 5 minutes. I continued to connect cables which I thought were correct and went to system preferences on the mac to "set-up" the monitor. No picture. White light still on but screen black. Started again, disconnected everything and now the monitor does absolutely nothing! Not even a white power light. Tried different power leads, different sockets, just nothing.

Manufactured on April 6, 2017. So seven months old? Did you purchase this directly from Dell? Or from a reseller?

Dell never validated/tested the U2414H on Apple hardware and software. We validated/tested on Windows based computers.

To start, run the U2414H stand alone BID (Built-in Diagnostic), page 56. If the BID runs successfully, the U2414H is sound on a hardware level.

What video out ports are on the MacBook Pro?

What cabling and ports are you using to connect the MacBook Pro to the U2414H?

You might also consider asking the Apple users on their Forum how they have used our U2414H on the MacBook Pro.

this monitor was purchased from a reseller via Amazon.

box unopened, all bags and monitor sealed.

I have lost over 3 hours of my life trying to get your monitor to work.

Even using different sockets and power cords, would not register power with the unit.

Leaving it unplugged for over an hour did rectify it and power was present and a menu.

When unplugged to put back into the right place in the office - guess what just a dead black screen.

Not verifying this for Mac is moot point as it appears form y experience and many others on the internet this monitor is flawed.

Shame because I like the unit.

My confidence in Dell has been lost and I am returning this to the reseller.

Unless you have any other quick  fixes or ideas?

I cant run BID if the power light dissent even come on when i pug it in!

* Disconnect EVERY cable from the U2414H
* Press and hold in the U2414H power button for 15 seconds
* Connect ONLY the power cable to the U2414H
* Press and hold buttons 1 (Preset Modes) and 4 (Exit) simultaneously for two seconds. A gray screen SHOULD appear
- If it does, the BID is running. Keep pressing Button 4 to see other colors
- If it does not, then the reseller sold you a faulty U2414H
