U2414H miniDP + Windows 10 = only 640x480
Woke up monitor after sleep (my computer is always on, only monitor goes to sleep) and now only available resolution for me is 640x480. It's the second time this issue appears. First time I reset monitor to factory settings. This time it didn't help sadly. The issue seems to be very common for U2414H and surprisingly not fixed yet. Obviously it's a bug in monitor's firmware. Dell, do you have firmware update to fix this issue?

All I know is we are up to revision A03. What is the 20 digit serial and revision number on your U2414H? Have you tested all U2414H in ports (/DP/mDP/HDMI/HDMI) ? Have you tested with DP 1.2 disabled?

DP 1.2 disabled all the time
Didn't test other ports, I already fixed issue by removing power cord for 10 seconds and now I can't reproduce the bug, because it's spontaneous nature.

Manufactured on October 11, 2014. If still under the warranty, you may initiate a monitor exchange to get a replacement with the newer firmware.

Hello DELL-Chris M,
after a couple more years and these still working DELL-Displays did you support-people found a fix for this issue or can pin down what causes or might cause the wrongly reported max pixel resolution? Especially if there is a chance to apply the real fix to displays long out of warranty.
When applying my workaround with the forced custom resolution I cannot change the displays' brigthness through a DDC control tool (like twinkle tray). This is not due to the applied workaround, but due to the incorrect max resolution reporting-thingy.
Yours,
Carl
EDIT: typo, sorry "Cris"

Hello bro2, Hello future internet users,
I hereby present you another workaround for this issue(1).
when you google something like 'Windows 10 Displayport Dell 640x480' you will find various information about this issue.
Some state things like:
a) replug the Displayport-cable
b) replug the power cable for x seconds/minutes
c) it has something to do with the electronics
d) at some point the Display Control Information gets messed up for whatever reason
e) reinstall Windows, drivers, etc.
For me a) and b) are just temporary solutions which might or might not help for a while.
(yes I really tried the driver part for whatever reason...)
I do have multiple Dell displays on the same notebook/dockingstation and all share the same problem. A friend of mine has similiar issues.
(1) I hereby present you another workaround: Add a custom resolution inside your graphics control panel (Intel, Nvidia, AMD, google if you don't know how to) and simply use that "custom resolution".
I set it to 1920x1080@60Hz (16:9) or 1920x1200@60Hz (16:10).
Yours,
Carl
PS: I just registered to write this stuff. Feel free to add another/better workaround or even real fix.
EDIT: typo fixed, added comment for e)

The workarounds you presented are the only solution for these out of warranty monitors.
