U2417H, to PC VGA out?

Hi,

Is it possible to connect U2417H to VGA port? I have an old motherboard with no HDMI (Asus H61M-C), and no dedicated GPU (I'm using i7 3770 Intel HD 4000). I bought HDMI to VGA adapter and HDMI cable, connected everything, but it's not working. I got this message on screen "No HDMI/MHL Cable,  the display will go into Power Save Mode in 5 minutes".

In monitor menu, I have selected HDMI/MHL option, and I still get the same message, "No HDMI/MHL Cable".

The monitor is brand new, purchased today. I would appreciate your help.

For my notes, click my username and via private message send me the monitor service tag number.

What you bought will not work. A PC VGA out port cannot upconvert to a monitor HDMI in port via straight cabling.

* Go back to the top of the Monitor Forum board
* Open "FAQ Monitor (updated 9/6/18)"
* Open, "Computer VGA/DVI/HDMI out to Monitor DP/mDP in"
* See the last section, "You will have to go VGA to HDMI ="
