U2713HM, DVI, PSM

I have this issue as well - the monitor goes into power-saving mode, and I can't wake it up. I have it connected via a dual-link DVI. How can I "disable the Displayport 1.2 option"? I don't see how to do this. I seem to be only able to choose the inputs, not disable them in the menus...

Thanks.

How can I "disable the Displayport 1.2 option"?
Menu -> Display settings -> DisplayPort 1.2 -> Disable

I hope that helps.

Regards

Er, no, it doesn't help. There is no DisplayPort selection available in the Display Settings section. Thanks anyway.

Gcoupe,

To what computer (laptop/desktop) is the monitor connected?

To what specific video card on the computer?

What ports are available on the video card?

Are you testing using the Dell supplied DVI-D DL cable?

Second attempt at answering - the first disappeared into a black hole...

The U2713HM is connected to a homebuild PC that's been running just fine since the days of Windows 7

The video card is a Sapphire Ultimate Radeon HD 7750 with DisplayPort, DVI and HDMI ports. The monitor (running at 2560x1440) is attached using the Dell supplied DVI-D DL cable.

Prior to the U2713HM, this PC had a Dell S2309W (purchased in July 2009) attached. This never showed the failure to come out of power save mode, when running with Windows 7, Windows 8 or Windows 8.1. It is currently attached to another PC running Windows 8.1, and continues to perform faultlessly.

The U2713HM, on the other hand, will fail to come out of power save mode at least once every couple of days. The only thing I can do is to reboot the PC. This is not good.

Was this a New or Dell Outlet purchase? What revision is it? Do you have DP and HDMI cables to test on the U2713HM to see if the PSM issue continues?

It was a new purchase, from a Dell reseller (I'm in the Netherlands, we don't have the Dell Outlet operation here).

It is rev A01

I have HDMI cables, but I thought that they would only allow resolutions up to 1920x1080? That would seem to defeat the point of buying a U2713HM in the first place. I suppose that I'll have to buy a DisplayPort cable and test the behaviour of the monitor with that. Thanks.

Correct about the HDMI resolution. My point was to test on HDMI to see if it also had PSM issues.

I'm getting a DisplayPort cable to test this. I couldn't stand the fuzzy text when running the monitor in 1920x1080 using an HDMI cable. Will report back in a week or so.

Using the DisplayPort did not work well for me. The monitor displayed flashes of noise bands, see: http://sdrv.ms/1cSfafd

So I went back to using the DVI port. I also updated to the latest version of the graphics driver direct from AMD (13.152.1.8000), rather than using the one supplied through Windows Update (13.152.1.1000, I think). That seems to have done the trick. Touch wood, so far the monitor seems to be waking up from power save states.
