U2717D, does not enter Built-in Diagnostics mode?

I have two U2717D monitors. One has developed a vertical blue line (yellow when a white background is placed in the area). I wanted to test the colors using the built-in diagnostics described on page 50 of the manual, but no success. I have unplugged all cables except power. When I turn on the monitor, a floating window informs power save mode will be entered in 5 minutes - the manual says this means the monitor is in self-test mode. I then press the button next to the power button (#4) and the button farthest from the power button (#1). On every attempt, there is either no response or a menu is displayed to select the input source. I have certainly held the buttons for the proscribed 2 seconds (and much longer).

Ideas?

Try this...

* Turn the monitor off
* Disconnect all cables (including the power cable) from the rear and side of the monitor
* If a mechanical monitor power button, press the button in for 30 seconds (clears any residual power in the circuits). If not a mechanical power button, just wait for 30 seconds
* Reconnect ONLY the power cable to the monitor
* Turn the monitor on if it does not do so automatically

* Press and hold Button 1 "Preset Modes" and Button 4 "Exit" on the bottom panel simultaneously for two seconds
* Release the buttons when the gray screen appears
* Press Button 4. The color of the screen changes to red
* Press Button 4. The color of the screen changes to green
* Press Button 4. The color of the screen changes to blue
* Press Button 4. The color of the screen changes to black
* Press Button 4. The color of the screen changes to white
* Press Button 4. The color of the screen changes to text
* Press Button 4 to Exit the test

Thanks - that actually worked (although it was button 1 (furthest from power button) that cycled through the color tests)

The monitor is fine, btw, so the intermittent vertical line is another issue (probably cable - the drivers are up to date).

Best,
Scott

Great!

although it was button 1 (furthest from power button) that cycled through the color tests)
So the User's Guide was incorrect in stating button 4 exit.
