U2723QE, USB ports not working?
Hello,
I just purchased a Dell U2723QE. It seems as though the USB ports do not work without a separate cable plugged in? Can anyone confirm that this is the case? This seems insane, I can not plug in a keyboard / mouse without another cable? Am I missing something?

For other U2723QE users, please explain how you corrected the issue.

Go to Power Options > Change Plan Settings > Change advanced power settings. Find USB Settings, then drill down to the USB selective suspend setting. Disable the options next to On battery and Plugged in, then click Apply. You must then restart your PC to stop it from turning off the USB ports unnecessarily.
Regards,

Willjoe,
Those Windows OS troubleshooting steps do not apply here.
scottf007 was asking about the physical cables needed to "turn on" the U2723QX/U2723QE/U3223QE five #9/10/11/12/14 USB-A downstream ports and #15 USB-C downstream port.
PC USB-C --> USB-C to C cable --> Monitor #5 USB-C port
* This should turn on the five #9/10/11/12/14 USB-A downstream ports and #15 USB-C downstream port
PC HDMI --> HDMI to HDMI cable --> Monitor #3 HDMI port
PC USB-A --> USB-A to USB-C uplink cable --> #8 USB-C upstream port
* This should turn on the five #9/10/11/12/14 USB-A downstream ports and #15 USB-C downstream port
PC DP --> DP to DP cable --> Monitor #4 DP port
PC USB-A --> USB-A to USB-C uplink cable --> #8 USB-C upstream port
* This should turn on the five #9/10/11/12/14 USB-A downstream ports and #15 USB-C downstream port
