U3014 Screen Corner Bleed Over

I just received a new U3014 Ultrasharp and noticed right off the bat that it has very severe backlight bleed over from the corners. I bought the U3014 to replace a five year old Dell 3008WFP because of the outstanding performance of a new U2713H, which has identical performance specs with the exception of being 27 inch instead of 30 inch.  BTW: the 3008WFP has NO bleedover effects!   You can see the effects here:  https://www.dropbox.com/sh/psnmgxmdq43x3q4/qw8wW9tS3S

I have put photos of both the new U3014 and the five year old 3008WFP.  The bleedover is most pronounced with using a dark screen such as I do with Photoshop and Premiere Pro editing.  Otherwise the monitor looks good.  My Service Tag is . Hopefully there is a way to correct the bleed over problems on the U3014.

w6fxj,

I have escalated this to the displays team and their response was that a monitor exchange will have the same backlight complaint. So an exchange will be fruitless. They are escalating this to the manufacturer. It will be awhile before we hear anything from them.

Dell monitor support sent me a replacement that has exactly the same problem.  So your Display Team contacts had the right answer.  Dell Customer is taking back both U3014 monitors and refunding my purchase price.

It is clear that this is a manufacturing problem that need correction.  It is present in serial number CN-0J3Y9N-74445-33S-996L and in the replacement serial number CN-0J3Y9N-74445-343-782L.  The first was made in March of 2013 while the second was made in April 2013.  This indicates that ALL U3014 monitors that start with serial numbers CN-0J3Y9N-74445- probably have the same problem with excessive bleed over.  Dell should consider removing from sale all U3014 monitors from that manufacturing series.  Then take steps to correct the problem so that no other U3014 monitors will have the same defect.  Check with the contractor for Dell U2713H monitors to see how they prevent bleed over on that series of monitors.  They did the job right!
