U4919DW, not waking up computers

So I have a Dell U4919DW and I have two computers connected to it - my main desktop PC (desktop tower) via a DP and a Type-A/B USB link (to one of the two upstream USB ports) and my work laptop via the USB Type-C link (I use the Type-C cable to charge it and use it for the DP and USB connection). I have it setup so that when I change the video input, the active USB upstream link also changes and I have it setup correctly, changing the input carries over the keyboard and mouse that are connected to the monitor via the two USB downstream ports.

The issue that I have is that if the display link goes to sleep on either of the PCs, changing the video inputs means the monitor does not get a video link. In that case it apparently doesn't do a ('forced') USB link switchover. Since I effectively don't have a mouse and keyboard connected to the PC, I can't 'wake' it or the screen (the PC is not asleep! Only the monitor output goes to sleep), which means I don't get a video link and thus of course I also don't get a USB link. The USB link stays with the previous video input PC.

Is there a way to set the monitor to forcefully switch over the USB link even if it doesn't find a video link on the selected video input?
