U3014, USB 3.0 ports are for what?

What are the U3014 USB 3.0 ports for and how do I use them? I can find no help in any documentation I received.

Thanks

Hi DonGateley,

You will find 4 USB 3.0 ports on the Dell U3014 monitor 2 on back and 2 on left side. The USB ports on this monitor are USB 3.0 compliant. USB 3.0 functionality requires a USB 3.0 compatible computer. To enable the USB ports on the monitor you will need USB 3.0 upstream cable (supplied with Monitor) to be connected to from the monitor to the USB port on the computer.

Please reply for any other queries.

What I would like to know is what they are meant to be used for.  Can you give me usage scenarios?

These can be used for anything that you would use USB for. That they are on the monitor makes it easy to stick a USB key in for example.

If I understand you, they are just a 4 port expansion hub for use by the computer the display is attached to.  Is that correct?

I figured the monitor itself could use them for some function but that's not the case, right?

Hi DonGateley,

The answer to both of your question is yes. These ports do not have separate functionality when compared to the ones on the system (tower).
