macOS, disable DDM autostart?

I can't seem to find an option to disable DDM (Dell Display Manager) autostart on macOS BigSur 11.6.1. The DDM.app is not listed in User / Login Items.

/Library/LaunchAgents has no relevant entries.

What is the recommended approach to completely uninstall DDM on MacOS system?

There is a good news for you.

I find the option you are looking for. (In the new version of DDM. v1.50.0.0041)

Using (shift + right click) on DDM icon to see "Auto-load at startup".

When this is disabled, 'DDM_settings.json' value will be changed like below.

  • "Enabled_Auto_Launch" : true
  • "Auto_Launch" : false

(I was wrong before. 'Enabled_Auto_Launch : true' is correct.)

I hope this helps you.

In Windows we use shift + right click on DDM icon to see "Auto-load at startup". Does the macOS have right clicking?

Hi Chris, there is no such option in MacOS Big Sur 11.6.1.  Still looking for a solution.

DDM.app is not listed in Login Items but still auto starts.  Hence, the question ...

I read through the DDM for macOS User's Guide and there is not any mention of how to stop DDM from loading. You are correct. The Guide did show me that the macOS menu does not show an Auto-Load at startup function. Emails sent off to the Displays Team with questions.

Try editing 'DDM_settings.json' file.

This works on macOS Monterey 12.1. I don't know if it applies to you too.

  1. Open 'DDM_settings.json' with TextEditor
    • Path: /Applications/DDM/DDM_settings.json
  2. Search 'launch' and edit value.
    • "Enabled_Auto_Launch" : true → false
    • "Auto_Launch" : -1 → 1
