Alternative for Networker9 Console Configuration Wizard

Hello colleagues,

There's well know Console Configuration Wizard that require to fill mandatory parameters at first GUI run.

Couldn't you please suggest alternative way to perform this configuring?

Our customers want to upgrade Networker to 9 version on thousands servers, so we need to automate it, for example, via command-line or REST interfaces.

Thanks in advance

For whatever reason we cannot see the image but I think that you talk about a centralized update of the NW clients, aka 'client push' update/upgrade.

Yes, you can do that via the remote software upgrade available in the Hosts window.

It works pretty well with only a minor issue:

It may report a filed client while in fact it has been successfully upgraded.

Sometimes the pause between starting the NW client daemon/service and the first query for success seems to be to short.

Also be aware that on Windows clients, the upgrade would fulfill a service restart request or even a reboot, if those are still pending. If you are logged in and do a manual upgrade, you will become aware and may take corrective action.

NW however will just proceed and do whatever will be needed.

So you may not want to upgrade sensitive servers via NetWorker's client push capabilities.

Please see the Admin Guide for more details.

Thanks for answer Bingo,

What we actually need is dodge from manual interaction with GUI in order to completely automate NW9 installation process

It is not (well) documented but I suppose it is NMC's "gstauthcfg" command:

E:\Management\GST\bin>gstauthcfg.exe -?

Usage: gstauthcfg  [-ct] -h hostname -p port

-c: Update configuration to use the specified authentication host and port number

-t: Validate the specified authentication host and port number

-h: Authentication server hostname

-p: Authentication server port number

E:\Management\GST\bin>

If I understand correctly these parameters are defined through /opt/lgtonmc/bin/nmc_config command line utility

There's not an issue to automate initialization for these 2 particular parameters. Actually we already did it.
We want to setup automatically the parameters required by Console Configuration Wizard:

That's the issue
