Autochanger disappeared from device manager

Hi Sir,

I'm having this wierd case where while i'm having operation on the autochanger, it suddenly changed to inaccessible.

entries on the daemon log:

10/17/07 16:34:33 nsrd: media info: Jukebox `C4_Ortigas' Hardware status of jukebox 'C4_Ortigas' changed from 'cannot access the hardware' to 'ready'
10/17/07 16:34:45 nsrd: [Jukebox `C4_Ortigas', operation # 7]. Finished with status: succeeded
10/17/07 16:52:43 nsrd: media warning: Jukebox `C4_Ortigas' Hardware status of jukebox 'C4_Ortigas' changed from 'ready' to 'cannot access the hardware'

entries on the system event log:

10/17/2007 4:53:07 PM PlugPlayManager Error None 12 N/A TMSLGTORT The device 'Unknown Medium Changer' (SCSI\Changer&Ven_QUANTUM&Prod_PX500&Rev_000B\6&d9fca54&0&000) disappeared from the system without first being prepared for removal.

I can't see any other way on locating whats causing the device to disconnect from the system.

Can you help me out on this one sir?

Thanks,

yosh

We had this problem as well.. what we found
- set ALL Windows (storage node/dedicated storage nodes) HBA to presistant binding "enabled" requires reboot to set
- set ALL Windows (storage node/dedicated storage nodes) HBA "enable target reset" to Disableed.
- in the properties of ALL Windows devices defined to Networker under the Configuration Tab, set the CDI to "not used"

Hope this helps!

Is there any case that Networker the one making the device to disconnect itself from the system?

No, this is not NW issue. This is probably SAN issue (connection between box and library itself), but again could be anything else. Try to reboot box and see if that gets things back to life. (while box is down I would restart library too and check those SAN logs)

I did try rebooting the box and resetting the library a few times, your right, that did bring the library back to the device manager list. But it didnt took an hour before it disconnects itself again.

If you see this disconnected from event viewer too (well, device manager) then issue seems to be somewhere between OS and library (and most probably that could be due to bad connection like cable, but all other possibilities are open too).
