Backup Type for Networker -VMware
Hallo Friends,
I have recently took over the networker environment from my colleague. I know almost nothing about networker. Coming from Veeam backup I was trying to see where can I find similiarities.
Can someone here help? I would like to have folllowing policy for File server
1. daily full incremental - retention one week
2. Weekfly full - Retention one month
3. Monthly full backkup - retention 6 months
This is standard GFS style.
In the "Action" I see following actions
1. Full
2. Cumulative Incremental
3. Incremental Sythetic
Would highly appreciate a help and also some pointer where to learn what these action do

This will be a long way ...
To understand the general concept, you better start off looking at some youtube videos:
1. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8HoziLvZ0Vg
2. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zc8EPIISeCw
Then download the NW documentation (full PDF portfolio). The Admin Guide is what you will read most.
Next install NW on a test system. It will run for 90 days w/o license. BTW - compared with VEEAM you will love how fast a NW installation will be
Create a local disk (aka AFTD, Advanced File Type device). Then label a media for the pool Default.
Now you are ready to 'play' with the software before you make changes in the productive environment.
