Backup locks certain files

Question

Hello, The backup of some of our clients seems to interfere with other processes that are cleaning up filesystems on these specific client (W2K3). This cleaning process deletes files that are obsolete. Sometimes it is not possible to delete these 'obsolete' files because they seem to be locked by the backup process. Questions: 1) Does Networker lock files during backups ? 2) Can a user not delete a file during the backup process ? 3) It there a work around for this issue (apart from rescheduling) ? 4) What about use of VSS regarding this issue ? There is no lock. Run save in debug mode and you'll see it. Lock might be present in combination with AV software, but still it wouldn't be NW lock.

No.

Should not else backups can give error messages for those files.

OFM/VSS but even that would not help deleting files

Hi Anuj,Are you sure files are not locked ? Not even for a very short time ?What about locking the file when the archive bit is set ?Jackman
