Backups work but restores fail?

On a particular client, backups appear to complete ok but some restores fail with can not read record...on LTO Ultrium-2 tape.
Has anyone ever come across this problem?

Yes. If you are on unix you have to check you are usig "no rewind" devices. Otherwise it will owerwrite all previous backups. On each os devices are different so without additional information I can't say what device-file you should use.

In addition, it could be bad tape or overwritten label (and data) due to SCSI bus resets.
