Best Practices for backup EMC Networker Server
Hi Networkers:),
I'm just wondering about (best practices) backuping EMC Networker Server. Let's assume that We have the following configuration:
1. EMC Networker is installed on Windows 2008 R2 Enterprise on System Partition named "C"(all defaults settings)
2. The EMC Networker is integrated with IBm TS3100 Tape Library and all backups are saving to tapes.
My questionis: How Can I design the best EMC Networker server backup procedure, in the event of disaster the server (for example disks demage etc.) ?
I'm considering doing backup whole system partition (C) using VSS to the second partition or network share, so in the event of any kind of failure, I will able to recover EMC Networker Server very fast.
What about yours suggestions regarding best practice for EMC Networker Server backups ? Any suggestions will be appreciated
Best Regards
Damiano

I would just rely on backup as far as OS goes (DR) and bootstrap backup when it comes to NW database. It is straightforward and rather efficient.

Hrvoje is correct - your problem would not be the the DR of the NW application.
Your problem would be the system recovery - the recovery of your system partition to be precise.
Once you have managed that, simply install the same NW server SW version to that same location and reuse all the databases, logs and config files as before. Of course this can only work if your application does not reside on the system drive. So may I suggest that in general you should not put everything on your C: drive. Such is really a bad attitude.
