Can't access Networker

Hi there,

I've recently started work a new company, and I'm trying to access Networker (NMC), but I can't make it. The following error occurred (print below):

How can I fix this? I think it happens because of the java version, but, I'm not sure about that. Anyone could help me?

Thanks in advance.

Hi newbieman,

In general it always help to supply information about environment and particularly for the specific issue when seeking for help. Errors tend to be general and sometime have multiple root causes, cannot lay only on the error itself for troubleshooting.

For the specific error seems to be Java related as you already thought .You might try https://support.emc.com/kb/464179 or https://support.emc.com/kb/461800

Use  https://support.emc.com and YouTube knowledge base often , many KBs and video customer accessible can give first aid before contacting support.

HTH

If you have installed a valid JRE version on the NW server, you should be able connect via port 9000 (default).

If this is not the case, let me suggest that you use another browser to verify the behavior,

Hi bingo

Thank you for your prompt reply.

Well, I've tried to connect on the NW Server using all of the browsers (IE, Chrome and Mozilla), and, the following page showed:

Then, I've tried to connect it using the NMC as show in the message above.

One thing: My Java Version is Java 8 Update 131. However, I can't find previous versions of Java...

Hi newbieman,

NetWorker 8.1 is not supported with Java 8 as described in the above KBAs.

Moreover , it is EOPS since March last year so you might start planning an upgrade. For 8.x to 9.x or latest 18.x highly recommended to involve professional services as there are plenty of changes between those versions. I am not sure Oracle save the Java 7 version on their archives, maybe someone in community have it.

Hi LilianaW

Well, I've installed some previous versions of Java (actually, only one version: Java 6 update 31), and now the following error is occurring:Image 003.jpg

Image 004.jpg

So, about upgrading Networker, I think I can't afford that in our company...it is a government company, and we don't have enough budget to accomplish an upgrade...unfortunately...

Any clue about the error above?

Best regards.

Hi NewBieMan,

This seems to be a progress, however, if no issues with NMC database I would blame the version of Java installed. Try to find Java 7.

Didn't dig too much but can't find at the moment any related escalation of bug for your NW version. If any, will let you know.

There is a risk of not having a supported backup environment.

Did you tried to reset NMC password , there are few KBAs. This is one of them https://support.emc.com/kb/470660 . There are few more, have a look on support site.

Regards,

Liliana
