Check if NetWorker service is running in client - usually from server side you can do something like rpcinfo -t 390113 1 to test RPC connection towards nsrexecd. Also, check if fw is not an issue if everything looks fine (SP1 comes with fw enabled).
Someone uninstalled NetWorker client on the Win2K3 client. I reinstalled and used rpcinfo to check the connection. It came out OK, and the client is backing up OK.
Sometimes restarting networker services/processes will help if client is properly installed. I have feced this problem few times. Also on some windows boxes networker remote service dies constantly and in this case you can specify it to be restarted on service properties.
