Cannot restore exchange mailbox item
Hi All,
I try to install NMM 3.0 with networker 8.1 for backup microsoft exchange 2007...backup running successfully but I cannot restore per mailbox item, I just can restore RSG..WHen I go to menu RSG mailbox recover in NMM user it's always say,
Unable to query MAPI interface. Verify that:
- MAPI/CDO version 1.2.1 or later is installed
- The logged in user has sufficient privilege to access mailbox - Execute from Exchange admininistrator's account the following powershell command:
get-mailboxserver | add-adpermission -user -accessrights ExtendedRight -extendedrights Send-As, Receive-As, ms-Exch-Store-Admin
- The logged in user should be a part of the following groups in AD:
Backup Operators, Domain Users, Exchange Servers, Organization Management(Exchange 2010 only), Exchange Organization Administrators (Exchange 2007 only).
- The logged in user's mailbox still exists and active.
Log into the mailbox using Outlook or Outlook Web Access for the logged in user.
- The logged in user's mailbox is not hidden from Global Address List(GAL).
- There is only one GAL - Default Global Address List - present and user is member of that GAL.
- The mailbox database having logged-in user is mounted.
- Exchange server where mailbox database is located is not available or down - check to ensure that the Exchange server hosting the mailbox database is operational and available.
- Microsoft Information Store service is running.
- Microsoft Exchange System Attendant service is running.
- Exchange 2010 SP1 Roll-up 6 or later (Exchange 2010 only) is installed.
- Microsoft Exchange RPC Client Access (Exchange 2010 and Exchange 2013 only) is running.
-Client Access Array (Exchange 2010 only)is reachable.
Server OMEGA is not capable of RSG operations.
Please check the event logs for more information
My user already in exchange organization administrators, MAPI installed, not hidden from GAL, has mailbox and at least 1 email send and receive and send-as receive-as permission....I'm still confuse what's wrong in my step...
Thank you for helping....

I already fulfill the prerequisities, I install NMM 3.0 but I dont know how to check the build version...My networker server is networker server 8.1 build 97.....I never face this problem before, in my previous case it always work with this networker build and exchange 2007 or 2010...

Hello aldyth
Did you check all the steps provided in the pop-up window?
What is the version and build of NMM you have currently installed?
Did you check the application and system event logs on the Exchange server? If so, did you find any useful error message there?
Please check the following KB's and make sure you follow all instructions described in there:
https://support.emc.com/kb/191960
https://support.emc.com/kb/190696
Thank you,
Carlos

Hi aldyth,
you can check the version and build of NMM by checking the properties of the file nsrsnap_vss_save.exe, and check the details tab.
Please find attached a MS Word document with the content of the KB's I sent earlier.
Thank you,
Carlos

Hi,
Don't know if it can help but we had mapi error on GLR restore with DAG Exchange configuration (Exchange 2013). Support team send us link to a troubleshooting process about Exchange GLR and RDB issue :
https://emc--c.na5.visual.force.com/apex/KB_BreakFix_1?id=kA17000000016AS
We apply everything and it seems to work. Now we are still testing but first test are good. backup/restore OK. No more MAPI error, etc.
Hope it can help.

Hi Carlos, sorry for late repl, I'm really busy lately...the issue still occured, now I try to reproduce the issue...
Hi Nico, thank you very much for your suggestion...I try to look in KB it similar with the EMC support suggest to me for update to 8.1.1 and NMM 3.1 SP1 but when I asking is this work for 2007? They can't answer that so I try to reproduce this issue in my lab and try to deeper observation....

Hello,
Sorry I cannot help you about 2007 because we use only 2013 and 2010 version. I test with success 8.1.1 and NMM 3.1 SP1 only on 2013 version.
Hope you find solution for your problem.

Exchange recovery application is another way to restore deleted or lost exchange server mailbox. It can easily fix exchange server database issue and convert corrupt edb into healthy pst files. Read more http://www.edbrecovery.convertexchange.com/
