Configuration steps backup VNXe with Networker

Hello all,

I'm trying to configure a backup of VNXe with Networker. A colleague configured and SPA is with IP x.x.x.2 reachable. The CIFS shares are reachable over IP x.x.x.3. I configured the client with the name of x.x.x.3. Set backup command and application information. But the group fails with this error:

42597:nsrndmp_save: data connect: failed to establish connection

42886:nsrndmp_save: Unable to start the NDMP backup process.

nsrdsa_save : Aborted

42913:nsrndmp_save: Save session closed with NW server successfully

Also a manual backup with nsrndmp_save fails with the same error.

I'm pretty sure that NW is configured correctly, but I can't find any helpfull documentation if there is any issue with the VNXe. Are there any ideas or experiences with this?

Thanks in advance.

Mark

Hi Mark,

I believe this message is a result from Network connectivity and/or name resolution issues between the NetWorker Server and the VNX, Or NDMP user name or password issue, or NDMP password authentication method incorrect or may be the NDMP service is not started on the NAS device.

I had attachecd a useful guide for configuing NDMP backups for VNX with NetWoker, It should helps you more to check your configurations and the steps taken to configure the client. Additionally check the following EMC Powerlink article, it will helps you more in the troubleshooting steps.
