That looks to me like an issue with your hardware, I would suggest giving your library a quick once over and if nothing obvious is spotted log a call with the vendor to investigate the problem.

Hi,

I can see an error at scsidev@10.2.0, but I can't see the same device at inquire exit (it could be an erroneous configuration at linux servers, maybe a reboot or reconfiguration are needed) Obviously, DataDomain can handle this device by itself.

I hope these can be helpful.

Regards

Is that your full inquire output?  The media changer (virtual jukebox) does not seem to be listed although it does look like you may have cut off the inquire output.

I only run inquire | grep tape

Okay, I understand.  So when you try mounting tapes in any other drives from Networker they mount without problem, and this device can be mounted from the virtual library console, is that right?

1. is networker running as root on the storage nodes?

2. What are the permissions for the devices (ls -l /dev/nst*)

3. can you use the tape drive from the OS (mt -f /dev/nst0 status     and    mt -f /dev/nst0 fsf3 ; mt -f /dev/nst0 rewoffl   )

scsidev@3.3.0:IBM ULTRIUM-TD3 8711|Tape, /dev/sg11

Your virtual LTO3 has the incorrect drive path, it should be /dev/nst1, this device is using a path assigned by a SCSI generic driver which is not correct one o use for a tape device.
