EMC Networker and VSphere 5.1 VADP
Does anyone know if Networker supports VSphere 5.1 VADP backups or know of any work arounds in getting it to work? I cannot hold back this upgrade of our ESX hosts just because the people who own VMware cannot keep their products in sync at a support level.

Hi Casey,
Till the moment, Vsphere 5.1 is not supported by NetWorker , but as far as i know that it will be supported by upcoming build of NetWorker 8 , may be 8.0.4 or 8.1 , I am not sure. To have the correct accurate information you can open a service request or live chat with EMC and ask about the supportability for ESX 5.1 version.
Not supported does not means that it will not work, The backup may work (or may not) , but even if it works, any issues or problems occurs during this operation will not be EMC responsibility to troubleshoot and fix (not supported by EMC).

I can confirm that this is not only unsupported, but does not work.
We upgraded from vSphere 4.1 to vSphere 5.1 with NetWorker 8. NetWokrer 8 wasn't working all that well to begin with. The vSphere 5.1 upgrade completely broke it. I spoke with support and they said it would be Service Pack 1 (6-8 weeks) before it is supported. Until then, there is no workaround.

I've not heard anything official. I did get a hotfix from support that fixed my isse.

hi, was this resolved in Networker v8.1.1 ? We also use VADP proxy backups, and all VM's that were ported over to the vsphere v5.1 cluster failed after their move. Our production networker server is running networker v7.6.5.5 but I am testing networker 8.1.1 and would like to test the backup of the vm's on vsphere 5. I assume I would need to upgrade our VADP proxy from v7.6.5 to v8.1
