Exchange 2010 DAG backup stopped working
My EMC Networker backup of Exchange have been working fine for over 1 year. Now since last week I'm getting errors and its failing.
Nothing has changed in my Exchange environment. I'm out of ideas!
As a solution, I've checked for errors from "VSSADMIN LIST WRITERS" (no errors) and looked for any lingering shadows using "VSSADMIN LIST SHADOWS" (no lingering). I've also stopped and/or restarted the volume shadow copy service.
The other steps I've taken are restarting the "networker services" on the 2 exchange DB servers as well as stopping the 1 emc "replication" service that's a "manual" start and restarting the other emc replication service that's set to autostart in windows.
All of the items at the top of my screenshot fail. There are items that were successful and the 2 "currently running" will work.
Where I'm failing is here:

I've been through the EMC formus here, google, the documentation on Networker Exchange backups, etc....I can't solve it yet. If you have any suggestions, I'll try them. Since my original post, I've made changes and have retried. Another backup attempt is running right now and probably won't finish for hours. So it will be a while before I can tweak anything and try again.

It seems as if you have to deal with two problems:
- 0x8007054f a Windows error. Check the OS and/or file system
- A NetWorker rights/access issue:
"Client 'sgdag' is not properly configured on the NetWorker Server or
'sgdag'(if not a virtual host) is not in the aliases list for client 'sgmbx02.mycompany.com'..
The error message is pretty descriptive.

What I did to resolve was I deleted all of the exchange job configurations and objects from networker.
Then I started the Exchange configuration from scratch. I walked through the "create client" wizard using the name of my DAG as the client name. That worked. The configuration after doing this is fairly different from the prior one I had been using with no problems for the past year +
Why it broke is a mystery but starting over worked.
