In this case the snapshot got created successfully, mounted and checked consistency, however the process that failed was the roll.over to tape.
What you should check:
1.- Pool configuration.
2.- Group Configuration (Pool selected has to be correctly configured to allow data from this group).
3.- Name Resolution: Please read the message again carefully:
make sure you have configured at least one NetWorker Device and client resources are configured for the application host[exchangeserver.domain ] and the proxy client[exchangeserver.domain] on NetWorker Server [backupserver.domain]
And double check the names. Ensure all aliases for the Exchange server are included in the alias field of the client configuration, including, just in case, short name, FQDN, SHORT NAME and FQDN (upper case and lower case).
Also ensure the name resolution between Exchange server and client.
Check the name resolution from NW server to Exchange server with all required names.
If all this is checked and correct, render the daemon.raw from the client and check if there is any meaningful error in there, otherwise I believe you could be facing a client ID issue.

I have performed snapshot backup using NMM for only passive database. But i was getting error 2034 and hence the backup could not be completed. I have already logged a call with EMC and they are advising to upgrade my Exchange from Rollup 5 to Rollup 6 or to SP2.
Zkk: Please let me know what version of exchange are you using.
You should look into the Application, System and Exchange event logs, as this could be caused by something else, more likely an issue with Exchange VSS writers.
Did you run NMM Config Checker? If so, is there any mention to any VSS missing hotfix?
If i specify the "all" value, will it take backup of my active database as well. As it is production time now, i cannot take the backup of the active DB now. If it is only passive, then i can take it.
Out of this, i tried to take a backup of only one role viz. Role 1 and so i mentioned the saveset as APPLICATIONS:\Microsoft Exchange 2010\ROLE 1 .
Also, i configured a client resource with the FQDNS of the client and the following configurations:
Backup Command: nsrsnap_vss_save
NSR_SNAP_TYPE=VSS
NSR_ALT_PATH=H:\Snapshot Backup
NSR_EXCH2010_BACKUP=passive
NSR_EXCH2010_DAG=sdc-dag.mahagov.local
Snapshot backup option is enabled and Snapshot Policy is selected as Serverless backup. Also Snapshot Pool is specified.
Now, i tried to take the backup but the backup failed with following errors. These errors were found out in Windows Events:
MSExchangeRepl

Microsoft Exchange VSS Writer backup failed. No log files were truncated. Instance 80b7e05e-4aea-4d22-9003-2a9e59087429. Database f0cb5ea0-f5f7-42a8-8ce9-b8fa246e9598.

Hi,
I'm sure you will get familiar with NetWorker soon, once you "suffer" with the first implementations you'll see it's not that complicated
This forum works pretty well, and I'm glad I could help.
Thank you.
Carlos.

Hi Pratik,
I don't think Event ID 2034 is related to Exchange SP, I would suggest you to take a look at here:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd876851.aspx
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/support/ee/transform.aspx?ProdName=Exchange&ProdVer=6.5.6940.0&EvtID=2034&EvtSrc=MSExchangeSA&LCID=1033
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/support/ee/transform.aspx?ProdName=Exchange&ProdVer=8.0&EvtID=2034&EvtSrc=MSExchangeRepl&LCID=1033
You should look into the Application, System and Exchange event logs, as this could be caused by something else, more likely an issue with Exchange VSS writers.
Did you run NMM Config Checker? If so, is there any mention to any VSS missing hotfix?
Thank you.

Hi Pratik,
That build should be Exchange 2010 SP1.
Check your version and build and you will know yours, comparing with the following link:
http://thoughtsofanidlemind.wordpress.com/2010/09/10/getting-exchange-2010-version-number/
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/240.exchange-server-and-update-rollups-builds-numbers.aspx
Thank you.
