Hello Sudhir123,

Hope you are fine.

Regarding your issue, i would like firstly to clarify that Windows 2008 R2 is only supported by NetWorker version 7.5.2 , 7.5.3 and 7.6.1 ONLY, so you have to upgrade the networker clients you have on Windows 2008 R2 from 7.6.0 to 7.6.1 to support backing up this operating system, Actually i believe that this upgrade will fix the issues you have on Windows 2008 R2.

Regarding Windows 2003, It is recommended by Microsoft to install the VSS rollup update on Windows 2003, You can find more details for that on the following Microsoft KB article : http://support.microsoft.com/kb/940349

After that try the backup again, if the same problem still occurs, you have to use Windows Installer cleanup utility to clearly uninstall the program in which the problem occur with ( which is in your case psexesvc.exe ) , you can find more details for that utility regarding VSS issues on the following Microsoft KB : http://support.microsoft.com/kb/955078

If the problem still persists after reinstalling the application that contains the file referenced in the error message, and then uninstall once again, then you have to use the workaround where you have to create the  file referenced file in the path specified with the error message ( a dummy file for psexesvc.exe created manually ) and  run another backup.  If subsequent backups fail with the same error  but reference a different file create the file referenced. Repeat this  until the the backup completes. But i believe that you will not reach that steps after the upgrade of the clients and the VSS rollup update.

Waiting to hear the results.

Thanks & Best Regards,

Ahmed Bahaa

Hello!

The issue of VSS errors for Windows 2008 is common, regardless of the backup software being used. Below is a list of the Microsoft VSS that you should review for your environment. Some are for Windows 2003 and some are for 2008.

In the cases I have dealt with, applying these hotfixes resolves the issues. However, there is no guarantee that they will.

Also, please note that the decision to install these updates is responsibility and decision of the server administrator.
