How To Upgrade Windows Server 2008 R2 to Windows Server 2012

Question

Hello, I'm in a bit of a pinch. I have recently purchased a new release of some older software which is installed on my 2008 server and it must now be updated to a newer version. I know the software currently support windows server 2012, so I'd like to do that...please advise or help me on the course of action I need to take.
