How to get networker configuration?

Hello

now in release 7 (on windows OS), i try nsrsup command but after 5 hours: nothing.
Any idea to get networker configuration or to get nsrsup command result.

Might be that Workstation or Server service is not running keeping it in wait state forever... I know I had that problem on my laptop. However, I happen to remember that is also reports what is currently doing so it should really easy to figure out what is and where hanging. As in previous releases, you can also always use nsradmin to inspect your database.

Below is example when it hangs due to services being restricted to run:
C:\>nsrsup

Networker Support Tool: System Diagnostics
EMC Legato Systems

Instructions:
- Provide information requested, then press

Please enter a EMC Legato Incident Case No:
Company Name:
Contact Name:
Phone Number:
Email address:
Setting up Env
Networker server is running
Building list of tasks to run in your environment
Setting Up Header Info
Could not get FileVersionInfoSize

Running System commands...
Running: PATH
Running: Environment Variables
Running: IP Configuration
Running: Active Network Connections
Running: Network Interface Statistics
Running: Started Windows Services
Running: Server Services Configuration

Hello,

please could you tell near which report collection nsrsup gets hanging.
Could this be while collecting jukebox information?
If so, then it's a known issue in NetWorker 7.x but can easily worked around.
Please let me know.

Check the TEMP directory for the profile of the user which is running nsrsup - that's where you can see it. In my case:

C:\>nsrsup

Networker Support Tool: System Diagnostics
EMC Legato Systems

Instructions:
- Provide information requested, then press

Please enter a EMC Legato Incident Case No:
Company Name:
Contact Name:
Phone Number:
Email address:
Setting up Env
Networker server is running
Building list of tasks to run in your environment
Setting Up Header Info
Could not get FileVersionInfoSize

Running System commands...
Running: PATH
Running: Environment Variables
Running: IP Configuration
Running: Active Network Connections
Running: Network Interface Statistics
Running: Started Windows Services
Running: Server Services Configuration
Running: Workstation Services configuration
Running: Server statistics
Running: Workstation statistics
Running: Memory
Running: hosts file
Running: lmhosts file
Running: Dr. Watson Log

Getting Networker information.
Some commands might take a while...
Running: Networker Bin Directory
Running: nsrls Output
Running: mminfo: Completed Savesets
Running: nsradmin: resource database
Running: nsrjb.res File
Running: nsrla.res File
Running: Daemon_log
Running: Messages
Running: Group Information
Running: NW Servers List
Running: Jukebox
Done.

Results are in: C:\DOCUME~1\HRVOJE~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\nsrsuplog4.html
Done
Press any key to continue...

To see where it hangs I believe there was tool from sysinternals which did show which command was executed... check their site. But, it's probably waiting for some output. What version of NW is that anyway?

But honestly, if you are after resources only - why do you use nsrsup? Why don't you copy nsrdb and view it via nsradmin or nwadmin?

Networker 7.2.1
my customer send nsrdb to me.
on my Networker server, i stop Networker services and i rename my nsrdb and take customer nsrdb. i restart services and i don't see customer configuration but i see my configuration (by nsradmin or administration GUI)
Any idea

? Are you really connecting the box where customer's nsrdb is? There is no way you will see your old configuration instead of customer's once that you replaced nsrdb. So, if you did this on your box called A then run nwadmin -s A and you should see it.

nwadmin doesn't work to see customer's nsrdb.
In fact my customer has a networker configuration problem.
On release 6, he send me his nsr.res. I replace my nsr.res on my Networker server and i see customer networker configuration.
How to do that in release 7, that is the question
regards

Do you have same 7.x release as your customer on the system you are trying to view?

The easiest way of getting the information out is to use nsradmin - if you want the full resources, at command prompt on Networker server:

nsradmin

- this gives you the nsradmin prompt:

option hidden

- means we see hidden options in our output

print

That prints off the entire resources - if you capture that output you effectively have the same information as would have been in the nsr.res file

... and if you do from that machine nsrsdmin -d /nsr/res/nsrdb what happens? Do you see old configuration (which now is no longer in /nsr/res) or do you see customer's data.

I missed the point slightly - if you are not on the Networker server you can use the -d switch and the location of the nsrdb folder you are looking at. In the older versions you would use -f path/to/nsr.res... Obviously you will need to be working on a machine with Networker installed (thus having the nsradmin binary) - but it does not have to be running.
