How to proceed with FLR with VBA on a linux VM (RHEL 6.5)
Hello,
I try to do a File level recovery on a linux machine (RHEL 6.5, File system ext4) with the the Data Protection Restore Client with the EBR Appliance adress. I can browse and mount my backup, select the file I want to restore. When I want to select a destination folder, I see:
Networker 8.1 , windows server 2008 R2 SP1.
Thanks for your help
Greg

Hello Greg,
Do you use the right Proxy to do it ?
There is a special proxy which support EXT4, and you need to stop Proxy on EBR when you start FLR.

Hi F@b,
I've disabled the internal proxies by running "etc/init.d/service avagent stop" on the vba.
Is there any dedicated proxy for ext4 file system backup?
If yes, where can I found it?
Thanks
Greg

You should have external proxy for ext4 as per documentation.

Hello guys,
I've used the external proxy for ext4, but error still the same.
Under the monitored restore I see:
Strange...
Where can I look the version of the VBA? Should the VBA also be version 8.1.1?
Thanks for your help

Greg,
Client MSCS is a linux box ?
In the vCenter I think that you will have the VBA version which is 7.0.XXX

Hi F@b
Is that what you're meaning?
Should we update the VBA?
Many thanks.
Cheers

No Greg, it's the last one... (as far as I know)
Did you tried to restore the whole VM ?

Hello Greg and F@b
We have made a restore of the whole Linux VM with success. The FLR is still the same as before KO.

Hello Phil,
Did you open a SR ?
I'm afraid that it's the only solution...
Please keep us informed.

Hi Mirko,
it's not a solution, but I 've tried with another Vm (same type of OS and ext 4) and it was working.
So the only way I get with this issue is to restore file for the Linux VM who doesn't work to another machine (even Windows) wher i'm able to restore file, and copy them afterward through Winscp for example.
I didn't know more than that and the SR is now closed.
Sorry
Greg
