Scanner is not NW aware. If a backup/restore or any activity starts on a drive i.e. scanning, NW would unmount the tape and scanner would gives errors. Be sure that while scanner is running, drive is not being utilized anywhere else.

2. On the second location, create dummy clients with those names and those client IDs. You can just make a dummy entry in hosts file to create the dummy client. Before clicking ok when you create the client, paste the client id for this client that you noted from the source setup.
3. scan the tapes using scanner -i \\.\tape0 in the new setup.
4. Once indexes and media entry are recovered, you can open NEtworker User and recover the data.

If you are restoring using a different backup server, you would need to use the scanner command. You can do a saveset level restore by using scanner -S if you know the ssid or use scanner command to identify the ssid first then use scanner -S.
If you want to do a browsable recover using another backup server, use scanner -i to rebuild the index for the tape you are trying to restore from. Please note that if you are trying to restore from multiple tapes, you will need to run scanner -i on each of the tapes before you can do a browsable restore from them.

Run scanner -i \\.\tape0 with tape mounted in tape0. -i scans and recovers the media entry along with index entries form this tape. You can use scanner -m \\.\tape0 which will recover only the media entry. Use either based on your requirement. -i recovers indexes thereby making Recovery easier.

If using NW you should load it with nomount option or via jukebox panel or sjimm.

If i given the old client ID, the NW is not taking and it takes a diffrerent one , And as you said , I mounted and scanned , In the nwrecover , i can see the index but throws an error while recovering like canoot find volume . And if i clicked in the recover save sets , it shows an error message like volume not present , But the volume is in the drive . Reply me ASAP .

Ok, Just let me know what are the steps to recover , Kindly tell me from your point of view ,
What i did is ,
Created the new same group name and the same client name and the save sets and all the parameters are same .And copied the index file from \nsr\index to the new server \nsr\index . Then ,
Mounted the tapes in the drive and in the command prompt , typed scanner -m \dev\nst1, and scanner -i \dev\nst1 . Then it took the index files , In the Nwrecover , I can see the index files , But if i tried to restore it shows like volume not found . This happens in Recover files , While in recover save sets , it shows no volume with the name . But the drive is in the drive only .
Just let me know , if there is any problem i made or what should i do to overcome this problem , I need to resolve this issue within today because implemeting remotely .
Anuj :
As you said , Kindly let me know how to give old CLient ID in the new NW'r . Kindly let me know as soon as possible .

As you said , i can see the volume name in the media - volume and i done the unmount and mounted it again , no error i got , but If i tried in nwrecover i am getting like ,
recovering 84707 files within /t5/ into /t5
Total estimated disk space needed for recover is 65 GB.
Requesting 84707 file(s), this may take a while...
53365:recover: NSR server `vzutlix11.tmindia.tatamotors.com': Cannot find the volume needed
5766:recover: waiting 30 seconds then retrying
53365:recover: NSR server `vzutlix11.tmindia.tatamotors.com': Cannot find the volume needed
5766:recover: waiting 30 seconds then retrying
Here the vzutlix11.tmindia.tatamotors.com' is the new Networker server and the t5 is the group in the old nw'r . Kindly le me know what should i do .

The tape was mounted in the drive manually...unmount it manually i.e. from library control panel. After getting it in a slot, perform NW inventory for the slot. It should then show the tape in View->Volumes while recoveries. If using a standlone device, mount the volume through NW and check.
To give old client ID in new NW server, Go to Configurations->Clients->New...enter the hostname...go to the client Id field and type the old client id before click at OK/Apply. If this hostname is not there in the environment, you can make an entry in /etc/hosts file for this host to get identified. This should be the first time you are creating a client with this hostname.
