How to restore a vmdk to a new virtual machine

Hi,

As you now nw started to support vapd with 7.6.2. Last day I have implemented 7.6.3 on a test environment but saw that I can`t restore image level backup to a new virtual machine again like in 7.6.2. Avamar admins knows it is very is to restore backup to a new vm, in Newtorker  If backed up vm exists on inventory restore fails. Do you know any workaround for this issue. (Also renaming inventory  name of vm does not works)

Thanks.

Hi

Make sure that old VM should not exists in the specified ESX or VC server. Also, the original virtual machine name’s folder

should not exist in the datastores selected for recovery. If you do not want to delete the original VM, remove the VM from the inventory(right click the VM name in the and select Unregister the VM) then rename the datastore folders associated with the VM by using the Datastore

For more details please refer  VMWare Integration Guide Section Image Level Recovery
