Index message: Cross check exited with status '256'
Greetings,
Started having problems with another client. This time the precmd ran twice before the Legato backup was done. There are 3 separate backups defined for the client and this happened to 2 of the 3. I noticed in nwadmin in the Clients window with Details View enabled that field 'Index message:' has the following message: 'Cross check exited with status '256'. I've always seen this field blank. I searched the forum & KB with no luck. I also checked the Error Message manual but it wasn't there either.
According to the on-line help for the Client window this field 'Displays the resulting message of an index purge or compress operation'. I assume the purge would occur when retention periods expire. Any ideas what the error message means?
Legato: 7.2.1
Client: Tru64 V5.1B
Server: RedHat Linux V3.6
Thanks,
Vic

Thanks for the suggestion. I ran 'nsrck -L6' on the client and the exit code was 0 so the index looks OK.
