Licensing only NMDA to backup Oracle database ?

Hi :

I want to backup one Oracle Database in a two-node RAC environment.

Right now i just need to backup the database, not the filesystems on the RAC nodes.

Do i still need to purchase client licenses for each node ? Or just need to buy the NMDA licenses for each node ?

Best Regards.

As the client software is mandatory for any module to be installed, I am pretty sure that you need a client license as well.

RAC is application cluster so in theory yes, you would need to license each node.  However, since you can have vip address, you can also do trick and use vip for backup and mark all nodes to be virtual and for physical node call it something like foo.  This way you use single client (virtual) connection for both file system and NMDA regardless of RAC nodes.
