I thought this issue would be resolved with the NM for MSSQL 5.0SP1. At this moment, I recommend to you opening a SR with support.

Good luck.

A description of your platform would help.

Try initiate a backup and restore from you client.

Do you have multiple instances?

What you saveset looks like?

I remember that there is a bug in 5.0 version about restoring. You should update the NM for MSSQL to 5.1.

December 18th, 2007 06:00

Platform is Windows 2000 server

Only one instance of MSSQL

Saveset?

I will have access to run a client backup and restore in a few hours. I will update then.

December 18th, 2007 08:00

I see that now in the release notes for 5.1. It's also in 5.0SP1. I will give it a try!

5.0SP1 didn't help the issue, still says not found. 5.1 isn't possible untill we get the server to 7.3.3 or higher.

Have you tried to restore by command line? Is this MSSQL client a Virtual Resource?

I have seen this KB solution:

Recover of successful MSSQL backup fails
Fact: NetWorker Module for Microsoft SQL 4.0.0.113
Fact: Microsoft SQL 2000
Fact: Windows 2000 SP4
Fact: NetWorker for Windows 7.1.1
Symptom: Recover of successful MSSQL backup fails
Symptom: Error: 'Failed to find matching recover object.'
Symptom: Error: 'Full backup of (DB_name) not found, cannot recover'
Symptom: Error: '_nwbsa_is_retryable_error: received a network error (Severity 5 Number 13): Unknown host'
Cause: Environmental name resolution issue
Fix: Please check and fix all name resolution issues.
For analysis and troubleshooting name resolution issues please have a look at Technical Bulletin 299

Verified all DNS with no errors and did a backup then restore from the MSSQL networker client with the same result. Hmmm.

Is this client a cluster resource? Have you tried to restore by command line?

December 19th, 2007 04:00

To be honest I don't know how to restore by command line. The documentation is difficult at best. If you could give me a command to try I will give it a go.

And this is not a cluster. One networker server, one mssql box.

Try it:

nsrsqlrc -s corbs027.olysteel.com -c mssql -V MSSQL:Millennium

this command only verifies if the backup can be recovered.

December 19th, 2007 06:00

nsrsqlrc -s corbs027.olysteel.com -c mssql -V MSSQL:Millennium

[6164] 12/19/07 09:26:41 Failed to find matching recover object.
[6164] 12/19/07 09:26:41 Recover of 'Millennium' will be skipped because a
full backup was not found.
[6164] 12/19/07 09:26:41 At least 1 valid recover target is required

Thank you so much for your help BTW everyone.

I did find an error in a log I havent looked into before.

XBSA-1.0.1 LNMs_2H_2005.Build.194 6612 Wed Dec 19 11:39:24 2007 _nwbsa_is_retryable_error: received a network error (Severity 5 Number 13): Permission denied, user 'MSSQL' on 'mssql' requires 'Recover local data' privilege for recovery or 'Backup local data' privilege for backup.

EDIT: In fact, no matter what authentication I manually put on the command line I still get this same error.

The person who set up the user permission did not put in the correct user in the administrator users area. Corrected. Thanks everyone. Awarded the answer based on while I was on hold with supposrt I figured it out.
