In order to backup the Active node you should be backing up the Virtual client, not the Active node itself.
Run the following command on the Active node and see the output:
nsrsnap_vss_save -c Active_node_name -A NSR_VIRT_SRV=virtual_cluster_name -?
Where virtual_cluster_name is the name of the CCR resource, not the cluster itself.
This command should display the valid save sets for the CCR environment
Also please set "serverless backup" snapshot policy and set client retries, client time out and savegrp parallelism to "0" in the group poperties.
Create a client for the passive node specifying the following values, and don't assign that client to any group, nor check it as scheduled for backup; save set you have to specify:
Ensure that the Replication Manager Exchange Interface DCOM component is registered with a user member of Exchange Organization group member and re-type the password. Do the same for the Replication Manager Exchange Interface Service and restart the service.

Before you do any further investigation, you should update to the current version 8.2.2.2 for all 3 components.
From the 8.2.2.2 Cumulative Readme file:

APPLICATIONS:\Microsoft Exchange 2007
In Application information set:
NSR_SNAP_TYPE=vss
NSR_ALT_PATH=The One You want
NSR_VIRT_SERV=CCR_virtual_client_name.domain.com
NSR_INCEX_CLIENT=CCR_virtual_client_name.domain.com
Ensure the CCR replication status is "Healthy"
