NMDA 1.5.0.0 (DB2) dont install library libnsrdb2.o

Hi Guys

I´m running test using NMDA 1.5.0.0 (AIX) to DB2 and NW 8.1.0.0 (WIN) , before using nmda 1.2.
Is being carried out the installation of the patch TL08 on AIX servers.
Procedure:
1.-Backup database using NMDA 1.5
2.-down database (Archive Log  is backup and the data base stop).
3.-TL08 path is applied.
4.-Reboot the Server
5.-Start the db2 database.

But the database start, but can´t access to users, because don´t load or find libnsrdb2.o,
on db2diag we can read the next alert:
0509-022 Cannot load module /usr/lib/libnsrdb2.o.

when we do execute a find to library libnsrdb2.o on path "/usr/lib" does not exist.

vuxxxxxx-root:/tmp # ls -l /usr/lib/libnsrdb2.o
ls: 0653-341 The file /usr/lib/libnsrdb2.o does not exist.

If we find all libraries of nsr, the result is:

vuxxxxxx-root:/tmp # ls -l /usr/lib/libnsr*
-r-xr-xr-x    1 root     system     21264471 Jul 17 19:19 /usr/lib/libnsrdb2.so
-r-xr-xr-x    1 root     system     17240203 Jul 17 19:19 /usr/lib/libnsrifmx.so
-r-xr-xr-x    1 root     system     17724090 Jul 17 19:19 /usr/lib/libnsrora.a

The library that is desplayed in the searh corresponds to a different operating system
"*.so" extension correspond to Linux, Solaris, HP-UX IA64) no to AIX, but is the only library displayed.

The Library don´t exist the DB2 database is no start.

Workaround

We downgrade NMDA 1.5 and install NMDA 1.2, on this NMDA version the libnsrora.o exist,
and Db2 database can open access to users.

Someone else has this problem?

I download nmda 1.5 version on emc feedback central and then download the same archive (nmda 1.5) on emc support,
the result was the same.

On other 3 system (AIX)  that was upgrade to NMDA 1.5 libnsrdb2.o not exist, but the db2 backup working fine,
buy no yet  restarted the AIX Server, possibly the library it to stay in cache and when restart the server is removed the library.

Regards.

Please consider moving this question as-is (no need to recreate) to the proper forum for maximum visibility.  Questions written to the users' own "Discussions" space don't get the same amount of attention and can go unanswered for a long time.

You can do so by selecting "Move" under ACTIONS along the upper-right.  Then search for and select: "NetWorker Support Forum".

Are you sure it is not there... because I use it for Oracle, but DB2 lib is there too of course:

-bash-4.2$ cd /usr/lib

-bash-4.2$ ls -ltar libnsr*

-r-xr-xr-x    1 root     system     21264341 Aug 22 21:41 libnsrdb2.so

-r-xr-xr-x    1 root     system     17240099 Aug 22 21:41 libnsrifmx.so

-r-xr-xr-x    1 root     system     17723960 Aug 22 21:41 libnsrora.a

-bash-4.2$ what libnsrdb2.so

libnsrdb2.so:

         Build number: 352

         Build arch.:  aix52w

         Product:      NetWorker

         Build info:   DBG=0,OPT=

         Release:      LNMs_2012.Build.352

Build date:   Thu Aug 22 09:21:31 PDT 2013

        57  1.4.1.4  src/bos/usr/ccs/lib/libc/fstab.c, libcenv, bos520 6/7/00 16:35:25

Hi.

We install NMDA 1.5.0.0, on your query I can read  "Module Vers: 1.5.0.1"

maybe the library exist on 1.5.0.1 Installation File.

I was open a SR on NetWorker Team, I don´t download

new version of NMDA.

Regards.

Well, the version I use is GA.  So, you might be using DA or something else (beta for example).  Ask yourself which one would you use?

What do you see if you do "what /usr/lib/libnsrdb2.so"?  This is what I see:

-bash-4.2$ what /usr/lib/libnsrdb2.so

/usr/lib/libnsrdb2.so:

         Build number: 352

         Build arch.:  aix52w

         Product:      NetWorker

         Build info:   DBG=0,OPT=

         Release:      LNMs_2012.Build.352

Build date:   Thu Aug 22 09:21:31 PDT 2013

        57  1.4.1.4  src/bos/usr/ccs/lib/libc/fstab.c, libcenv, bos520 6/7/00 16:35:25

         Module Vers: 1.5.0.1

Module Name: NetWorker Module for Databases and Applications

If you see something else, you may wish to to check what is installed with installp - might be someone made a mistake.

Hi

Have you found any resolution to the problem?

We have exactly same problem here, upgraded from NMDA 1.2 to NMDA 1.5.0.0 AIX 64bit:

PID     : 26870008             TID  : 1           PROC : db2vend (db2med - 10637 (DBASTAT
INSTANCE: db2inst1             NODE : 000
EDUID   : 1                    EDUNAME: db2vend (db2med - 10637 (DBASTAT
FUNCTION: DB2 UDB, database utilities, sqluFencedVendorProcessInit, probe:113
MESSAGE : SQL2071N  An error occurred while accessing the shared library
          "/usr/lib/libnsrdb2.o". Reason code: "1".
DATA #1 : ZRC, PD_TYPE_ZRC, 4 bytes
0x860F000A

When checking the "/usr/lib/libnsrdb2.o", it's not there anymore, but instead the "/usr/lib/libnsrdb2.so".

Which is strange, as *.so shared libraries are Linux, Solaris,etc... but NOT AIX...

Regards and thanks for every hint.

Hi Guys.

I was Open a SR on emc support, severity 3 was assigned, as today I have not answer.

the solution is downgrade NMDA 1.5.0.0 to NMDA 1.2.

Best Regards.

Why did you set it as sev3?  I see that you all mention 1.5.0.0 which is DA version while GA is 1.5.0.1 - did any of you thought for a moment that you are using wrong build?

If so, I suspect you could do symlink between .o and .so and things would work?

I very much assume so :-)

After wading through all the NMDA 1.5 Documentation, I found in the NMDA 1.5 Administration Guide, that the name of this shared library has indeed changed on AIX, so it is now /usr/lib/libnsrdb2.so on all platforms including AIX  :-/

That means that the db2 backup command changes accordingly and also the DB2 log archive target setting.

I'll just instructed the DB2 guys to change this and try again, will let you know of the results.

Ah, now I see... was this changed between NMDA 1.2 and 1.5?

Then it's easy   No need to change anything in that case...
