NMM/Exchange: log file path and system file path different

Hello list,

I have to backup several existing Exchange 2003/2007 clusters (CCR and SCC), but at the moment the "log file path" and "system file path" are different and can not be changed (on short notice). And I have to use NMM...

Is there any solution? Why does NMM demand that these locations should be the same?

Thanks, regards, Edgar.

Hello jvdp2002,

Did you moved the system file path and the log file path to the same directory and fixes the problem ?

Thanks,

Hello jvdp2002,

NMM requires that the Exchange 'Log files path' (or transaction log path) and the 'System files path' be the same directory.

Exchange admin have to move system path to log path drive, Specify the same location for the RSG system path and the RSG log path.

Thanks,

Ahmed Bahaa

I also have this problem, this seems to be a serious issue with NMM, we could successfuly backup the system with several other backup systems that we are evauating as Networker replacements with no problem.

This issue has stopped our ability to move forwared with our exchange 2007 migration.

Does EMC plan to fix this issue anytime soon?  I would rather not migrate backup platforms.

here is EMC's documented "solution"

Hello Ahmed,

no, we have reverted to using Networker Module for MS Exchange. As this was the fastest solution.

Sorry to be of no further help. And yes, the "solution" EMC provides, is IMHO a joke. NMM should

backup Exchange as it is configured.

Regards, Edgar.
