NMM restore
Hi!
During the Networker NMM restore. (Exchange 2010, point in time restore, DAG environment)
i got the following error:
nsrsnap_vss_recover: Old logs will move to E:\database\db6\transactionlogs\logs_16_11
nsrsnap_vss_recover: Could not move the file E:\database\db6\transactionlogs\E06.log
1. I tried it by hand it is working.
2. Database is unmounted.
3. Replication is suspended for this mailbox.
I try to run NMM to Run as Administrator option but it doesnt working.
After the preprocessing started i got this error:
VSS validation and preprocessing failed for Microsoft Exchange 2010 with error 0x80042301

Hi Pal,
Is the RDB properly created and mounted when you start the restore process?
What is the exact behavior you are finding there that should not be?
Could you please render nmm.raw and share with us the full output of the restore process?

Hi!
The initial goal is: restore one DB (DB6) to specific time.
When i am start the restore i am selecting the following restore options:
- Conventional restore (failback to snapshot restore)
- Restore: Point in time restore
DB is unmounted and replication is suspended. DB overwrite propery is checked.
Currently we dont created RDB and dont try it. (But we want to try it)
According the documentation we have 3 options for restore 2010 in Ex2010 environment:
1. full restore
2. RDB restore
3. Restore to another db or remote db
When i am trying to restore, i got the following error:

Hi Carlos!
My answers:
1. I will try RDB restore with a clean RDB database. I will be back with the results.
2. There is nothing in the app system and ex2010 logs
We have choosen not RDB restore for space reasons.
Is it possible to restore ex2010 without RDB?

Hi Pal,
Have you checked Application, System and Exchange event logs? If so, have you seen any specific error message?
I suppose you have space more than enough to perform the restore, right?
Also, have you tried to do RDB restore instead?
For that you would need to delete any existing RDB's and files.
Create the RDB and configure it using NMM GUI (very simple to do).
Run the restore and please let us know how it goes.

Hello Paul,
So you mean that once you have performed the restore of a DB into an RDB, you cannot then browse the content of the RDB?
Are you selecting RDB restore?
Once you select RDB restore, can you see the RDB but not expand it to see the content or you just don't even see the RDB itself?
Do you get any error message?
Does the user you are logged in to as, have a MB created, and active?
Is this MB mounted on an active DB on the same node you are doing the restore from?

Hi Carlos!
RDB restore is working fine with no error can seen.
I have one problem, i cant browse the RDB database in the NMM GUI.
Config checker reported no error, no error in the NMM log.
What can be the reason?

You have to select "RDB Data Recover" to browse the recovered RDB. Please see the picture below.
