Netware Restore Slow

We are currently recovering approximately 300 GB of data, the backup system is isolated from our network which has no impact on LAN or WAN. The problem that I am having is the recovery is really slow even on running 1 GB NIC. The past 23 hrs. I have only recovered 5 GB of data. Is there an alternate solution to speed this up? by the way it is a Netware box running GroupWise.

I have no experience with NetWare as I'm trying to stay away from it, but usually slow restore indicates (or may indicate) following:
- some network setting is not correct (NIC or on server/client side)
- backup has been multiplexed and it takes time to demultiplex it (position and reposition)
