Networker 7.5.2 build 452 supported by windows 2000 server sp 4

Hi,

I recently upgraded my server from 7.4.x to 7.5.2 Build 452 my windows server is 2000 SP 4. Now I am facing the problem that its services stopped automatically and backup failed due to this.

My question is that: IS WINDOWS 2000 SP 4 SUPPORTS NETWORKER 7.5.2 BUILD 452 ?

Hello,

Networker 7.5.x dropped the support for Windows 2000 servers for Networker server and Storage node, Windows 2000 is only supported as a Networker client, not as a Networker server.

Please check the software compatibility guide for more information about OS's supported with Networker 7.5.x.

Please let us know if you need any further information.

Thank you.

Carlos.

  • Please suggest the steps for taking backup of Networker from windows 2000 server and then re-installing on the same machine on windows 2003 server.

Hi,

You can make a copy of directories ...\nsr\res, ...\nsr\mm and ...\nsr\index (if the last one is too big, you can restore from tape later). Also, gstdb info if you have Networker Management Console installed on the same server. You can recover Networker Server from tapes with mmrecov command (for \res and \mm directories) and nsrck -L7 (for \index), too. You can find these detailed info at Networker Administration Guide, at Powerlink.

Regards.

Claudio

Hi, The NetWorker Procedure Generator available from Powerlink should be able to assist you here. You can download from: -

Home > Support > Product and Diagnostic Tools > Procedure Generators > NetWorker Procedure Generator
