Networker 8.1 to backup Symantec Enterprise Vault
I am looking for help from anyone who is using Networker to backup their Symantec Enterprise Vault environment. I am interested in knowing if anyone is using Block based backups or using typical file level backups. I am switching for Backupexe 2012 to networker with the hope that data domain and boost will speed things up as it takes days to run a backup of EV. Also interested in knowing how you have NW job's put the EV environment into backup mode for the indexes and vault stores before the job runs and clear backup mode after the job finishes.
Running Networker 8.1 build 212 on Windows 2008 r2, EV server running Enterprise vault 10.0.4 hotfix 1 on Windows 2008 r2
Thanks for any suggestions

I know there is integration between EV and DD, but I'm not aware that integration covers NetWorker itself. There is white paper on EV & DD integration so I assume that would be starting point.

Hi,
We are taking backups of the Enterprise Vault using NetWorker 8.1 SP1.
We are using the NetWorker 'savepnpc' to execute the PowerShell scripts in order to put the EV in backup mode before taking the backup of the indexes and remove the backup mode when the backup is complete.
We are using a DataDomain DD990 as backend, the backup is taking a little bit less than 1hour for 391 GB (Indexes + DB).
I will shortly test the Block Based Backup, it should improve greatly the performance of the backup, even if it might not be required yet.
For info, the vault store are not based up by NetWorker, we are using the Centera with replication.
How big is your environment ?
