Networker Module for Oracle : running sbttest failed

Hi,
We installed Networker module for oracle 4.2 on HPUX 11.11 and ran sbttest.
sbttest went on to successfully write to the tape and read from it but it errored out at proxy_backup with the following error message

SBT-750 (0) 01/10/07 13:28:32 lnm_stream_asdf_read: The EOF has been reached. (1:6:0)
SBT-750 (0) 01/10/07 13:29:49 nworapc_sess_brc_init: pb_init() failed with: 3 (114:501:0)

Please advise.

Thanks & Regards,
walnut

Yes, in your case proxy is not used and does not need to be tested.

When you say proxy are you referring to Oracle backup using PowerSnap? Can you check if library link was done correctly on proxy host?

Hi,
when we ran "sbttest test" it ran a regular_backup_restore which went through fine then it started running this proxy_backup. I dont know what proxy_backup is? Not sure if it is even required?

Thanks & Regards,
Neeraj

We have tried running "sbttest -no_proxy_backup -no_proxy_restore test" and it returned successfully without any errors. Also we could then go ahead and successfully backup to tape through RMAN and legato.

Just running sbttest displays all possible backup type results. Ignore failure for proxy if others are working.

Also you can just run a test script through RMAN just to be doubly sure -

connect target user/password@{database};
connect rcvcat user/password@{recovery catalog};
run {
set command id to 'abc';
allocate channel t1 type 'SBT_TAPE'
parms 'ENV=(NSR_SERVER={backup server},NSR_DATA_VOLUME_POOL=Default)' ;
allocate channel t2 type 'SBT_TAPE'
parms 'ENV=(NSR_SERVER={backup server},NSR_DATA_VOLUME_POOL=Default)' ;
release channel t1;
release channel t2;
}
